Feed The Wolf is one of those bands you see at a festival and go “Wow! Why are these guys tunes not on the radio?” Okay, radio is another discussion but this band makes sure rock ‘n roll stay alive. Much like a wolf pack, this band had formed through the love of playing, writing and producing music. To make a sound as unique as to that of a wolf. Ladies and gents, meet the Feed The Wolf.’
Feed The Wolf is a pack made out of Jako Loots (drums), Illimar Neitz (lead guitar), Donovan Borne (vocals), Juan Le Roux (rhythm guitar) and Jonathan Georgiades (bass). Once you have seen them you will certainly never forget them. And much like our other beloved rock, blues-influenced bands they are a highlight of the weekend at Woodcrock 12.
I caught up with Illimar, where he answered 5 questions for us.
STM: Is this your first visit to Nelsparta?
FTW: No, it’s not. We played a Halloween gig with Taxi Violence at Jock in Nelspruit the one time. We all love the Lowveld and have been gigging there for many years with other projects.
STM: What can the fans of Woodcrock expect of Feed The Wolf on stage?
FTW: A solid set and a Boogie Man. Abit like the Tokoloshe roaming free for 45 min. And if the sound engineer allows us, played very very loud.
STM: Have any of you ever been to Blue Moon and if so what was your experience like?
FTW: Yes, we all have been to the Blue Moon. A seriously impressive venue. I remember a snake once at our accommodation and waking up with deadly hangovers the following morning. Looking forward to our next visit there for Woodcrock
STM: For those who don’t know, can you please explain where the name “Feed The Wolf” came from?
FTW: We wanted to be called Flow eht deef. But quickly discovered that people have a hard time pronouncing the name. So we flipped the words and it became Feed The Wolf.
STM: If you could put together your ultimate, festival, with musicians and bands (dead or alive). Who will be on stage?
FTW: A festival at The Bang Bang bar in Twin Peaks. Lineup
Motörhead
Miles Davis
Johnny Jewel
Trouble
The house band would be Chet Atkins on guitar, Art Blakey on drums, Gito Baloi on bass and Nina Simone on vocals. Obviously, we will also be booking ourselves for the occasion.
