You know, we’re at that point now where I can confidently say, “Another year of Galpalooza!” with the enthusiasm of a woman who has already mentally packed her glitter, comfortable shoes, and emergency lip balm.
And what a year it is.
On Sunday, 9 August 2026, while the rest of the country celebrates Women’s Day, thousands of women will be doing what women have secretly been perfecting for centuries: gathering together and making everything infinitely more fabulous. Galpalooza returns for its fourth edition, spreading its magic across nine venues around South Africa, including Daisy Jones in Stellenbosch, Railways Café in Irene, and Blend in Knysna, with women dancing, singing, creating, laughing and collectively raising the vibration of the nation.

Honestly, I don’t know how to explain Galpalooza to someone who hasn’t experienced it.
It’s not a festival. It’s not a concert. It’s not a girls’ day out.
It’s a feeling.
It’s that moment when you walk into a space and immediately feel lighter. Like somebody quietly took the backpack of life off your shoulders and replaced it with a cocktail, a dance floor and a hundred new best friends.
Ah, women.
The givers of life. The nurturers. The carers. The wanderers. The anchors. The “I’ve got snacks in my handbag” brigade. The emotional support hotline. The human GPS. The reason every family functions and every WhatsApp group eventually gets an itinerary.
There is simply nothing more nourishing than the scent of a woman.
And no, I’m not talking about expensive perfume, although heaven knows we’ve collectively funded enough fragrance counters to buy a small island. I’m talking about the essence of a woman. Her spirit. Her resilience. Her laughter. Her ability to survive impossible things and still ask if everybody else is okay. Here’s looking at you, Jolene!
Every year, Galpalooza leaves me completely enchanted by the sisterhood of it all.
Not the matching outfits. Not the selfies. Not even the music. The sisterhood.The camaraderie.
The spontaneous conversations with strangers that somehow end with life advice, a restaurant recommendation, and a new Instagram follower.
The giggles.The freedom.The glorious permission to simply exist exactly as you are.
I’ll be honest with you. I have never felt more free than when I’m surrounded by women who celebrate me exactly as I am. No expectations. No performance reviews. No scorecards.Just love.
People often misunderstand femininity. They think feminine means weak. Or that it comes with a rulebook. Or that if you mention women celebrating women, somebody is inevitably going to start a debate.
I don’t care much for debates. I care about dancing. I think we should dance more. I think we should let music make us cry. Or laugh. Or flirt with life a little. Or feel like absolute rockstars. Because that’s where women connect.
Not in perfection.Not in competition. In joy.In movement. In those moments where a song comes on and suddenly every woman in the room knows every single word.
We’re not chasing approval. We’re not trying to be anything. We’re simply letting go.
And the good men in our lives understand that better than anyone. They don’t own us. They don’t contain us. They love us. They cheer us on. They know that when women are free, everyone benefits.
Galpalooza always awakens something in me, and it’s not inflated hormones or temporary excitement, but something much bigger.A deep, beautiful, symbiotic love.
A reminder that there is extraordinary power when women gather together. To sing together. To dance together. To laugh until our cheeks hurt and our mascara runs. We should all feel what I feel when I stand among these women. This joy.This freedom.This belonging.This beautiful, chaotic, glitter-covered miracle that is simply…US.
