By Marley and Rob

STRAB is so many things but one thing we can say for certain is that she is beautiful. Her touch has left a tattoo in our hearts and we are simply just in awe. This was a first STRAB for Rob and a third for Marley but it was the best thing we could do in the past year for ourselves.

We thought we share some photo highlights of STRAB since the pictures also tell you a story. No one can give you a piece of the energy experienced at STRAB but we can share what we saw on stage. One just has to experience the stars at night while sitting on the beach. Or waking up to sunlight blinding you through the trees or walk through camp and hear laughter.

Saarkie was nominated for 3 Ghoema awards and 1 SAMA (South African Music Award) although they didn’t win one of the awards they still deliver a powerful show. They are a band who I think most people miss but once you’ve seen them you make sure never to miss them again.

The Barbosa Experience made us feel very welcome into Pedro Barbosa’s home country. Singing in 2 different languages (maybe it was more), it was a party from the first note till the last. I can be anywhere in the world but when I hear The Barbosa Experience it will take me right back to the STRAB beach.

Wonderboom have been on our stages for 20 years and so many people love them. It’s a shame if your kids don’t them because they are what our South African music represents. Cito still make the girls scream! He is like Johnny Depp in that sense. But Wonderboom never has a dull moment on stage and they are truly great musicians.

When last did you see Cutting Jade live? Our last time was when Blue Moon was still pumping and now years down the road they enter our lives again. It was such a pleasure to chat to Andrew of Cutting Jade over an R & R. What a humble person and the band was one of our highlights (despite being beyond tired).
