The Expierreience is a 4 man band based in Gauteng province, South Africa. I first got to see them at the 2019 edition of The Sabie Tube Race in the pouring monsoon like rain. I had no expectations as I always do when I see a band for the first time. That way my thoughts and energy is wide open. I fell in love with their vibe, music and styles. I could clearly see through my camera lens the different personalities on stage.
I was happy to hear that Woodcrock 13.1 line up had so many local (meaning Lowveld) bands which include The Expierreience. What a happy thought! The Expierreience lead vocalist, Pierre Coetzee, has Nelspruit roots. And once a Nelspartan, always a Nelspartan (I hear it’s the water). I had a quick interview with the guys as they get ready to rock our broeks off at Woodcrock, Blue Moon.
STM: In short, who is The Expierreience and where are you from?
TXP: The Xpierreience consists of 4 members: Pierre Coetzee (vocals), Xander Van Zyl (lead guitar), Ivan Meyer (bass) and Jason Dick (drums). We are from Johannesburg and we have been a full band now for about 8 months.
STM: Where does the name “The Expierreience” come from?
TXP: The name ‘The Xpierreience’ came from when Xander and Pierre first started as an acoustic duo and the decision was made to use their names to make something new.
STM: This is your first time playing at Blue Moon, what are your expectations?
TXP: This will be our first time playing at Blue Moon and we couldn’t be more stoked as its a venue we have always wanted to play. We expect one hell of a good time.
STM: You have one golden circle ticket to see any band/artist (dead or alive) who would it be?
TXP: It would definitely have to be none other than uncle Jimmi Hendrix
STM: Lastly, what can people expect from The Expierreience boys on stage at Woodcrock in August?
TXP: You guys can expect one hell of a show as we promise to hit you guys with everything we’ve got.
Get your tickets for Woodcrock 13.1 via Quicket at R200 (including camping) or at the gate for R250. Kids under 14 are free of charge.
