By Marley and Vanessa

Only the notes and sounds of the memories of a legend venue, Blue Moon. And with a handful of people lead by Conrad Jamneck, we are all super excited for Woodcrock 12.

Now we are old Blue Mooners. Marley was there for the first rock show (Not My Dog was on stage) and there was a lot of OBS (Old Brown Sherry) flowing around like mother’s milk. We’ve seen so many sunrises there, chatted to songwriters about the stories behind the songs on the radio, made friends – but most importantly Blue Moon became home. It’s home to so many people and since it’s close are a few short years ago we miss our home desperately and we know we speak for a couple of hundred of people.

Welcoming all this year to Woodcrock 12 we, the Woodcrock Blue Moon crew, trust that you will have a great time. Let us get you excited and tell you a bit more about what to expect this year at Woodcrock 12:

One: Bring cash and your tickets

Small Town Music is selling pre-sale tickets at R 200. Our good friends at The Pub (located at 10 Jones Street, Nelspruit) are also selling pre-sale tickets. Of course, you can go online to Quicket and also purchase your tickets there. It’s really simple and easy and you can use your debit card.

As a last resort, and if you’re struggling to purchase beforehand or running out of time, you will be able to obtain your tickets from the gate on the onset of the event (Friday), however, you will pay R250-00.

Bring your cash, as there is no ATM at Blue Moon (it isn’t a mall). Your last ATM will be at Steiltes Spar shopping complex or back in the city of Nelsparta. The main bar will have a card machine. The other two bars only deal in cash.

Also, there are food stalls and The Disorient Express is well worth a visit.

One of the most frequent questions we have received is how much do the kids pay. Babies, toddlers, pre-primary are freePrimary kids pay R100 eachHigh school kids are full price.

Your Woodcrock 12 ticket can get you into Woodcrock 12 either one day or the whole weekend. Campers it includes your camping. Remember camping space is limited this year.

Two: Food or food fundi

Last year Braai Boy filled our tummies with his lekker braaivleis. He will be back with his team around the braai fires. It is also with good news for those looking for something different. Another amazing food vendor will be on site! So breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be covered.

Bring cash for the food vendors.

If you are a camper you can bring only your gas braai for cooking food. Since it is our high dry season no open fires will be permitted.

Three: Music

If I say to expect a weekend full of awesome tunes, we mean it. On Friday night you can expect Face JacksonJonathan PeyperSoil 7t7, Jack ParowTidal Waves and After Robot. One band, I’m proud to introduce to you is Face Jackson. This handsome band from White River wooed the Lowvelders at Road to STRAB in May and have gigged locally. Now they will be making their first-ever stage approach at Woodcrock.

Friday’s line up

Soil 7t7 is a band whose music and the story needs to belong in the Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame of South Africa. They burst onto our scenes in the 90’s, rocked our faces off and then slowly disappeared. For Woodcrock 12, they will be back on our stage, doing what they do best – rocking and rolling.

Your festival ticket is your camping ticket, however, space is limited. Get there as soon as you can, set up your tent and enjoy the weekend.

First come, first serve!

  • No open fires (gas braai only)
  • No private liquor in the festival grounds (at your tent only)
  • No glass
  • Respect nature and your fellow Woodcrock’ers

Bring your torch, your jacket (it does get cold here, don’t be fooled), sleeping bag, water and your dancing shoes.
