For a 3rd time, well-known radio personality and acclaimed international DJ, Roger Goode, brought down the house on Friday, 1st June 2018 at Jock Pub and Grill, Nelspruit. It was a Goode night of music, memories and – of course – tequila.

I personally think Nelspartans have adopted Roger as one of their own. The Jock was in a buzz as he was returning to our city within 6 months of his previous visit. He, in his own words, described that he loved our vibe and our city. Well, Nelspruit loves you, Roger. With Jock resident DJ, Jaydon Mark’s opening the floor with his sets, he made way quickly for the master on the decks.

Again I’m in awe of Roger’s ability to read the crowd. So many DJ’s say that it’s commercial but I find that each and every DJ has their own taste and have their own idea and have their own creativity. Many of the evening’s music reminded me of the good old days of Saturday Surgery: a show Roger hosted back in the day on 5FM. A show that kept me awake when I was driving between shifts at nightclubs and bars. You as a DJ can say what you want, you must see him again. See that even in your late 30’s *cough* you can party longer, harder and still remember the night.

At the end of the night, Richard the DJ, Jaydon and Roger had a little spin-off on the decks. Again the creativity juices were flowing in the early hours of the morning and it was fun! It was good to watch and good to hear. On Monday morning, 4th June, I listened to Roger’s show from 06:00, where the rest of the country heard the Jock crowd singing the Roger Goode Show theme song “A Goode Morning”. It wasn’t the “most sober” moment of the crowd but it was a fun moment.

All in all, Roger is now a Nelspartan. He is one of us. He is a fun-loving person that crept into our hearts and made music for souls on Friday evening. He is welcome back anytime, even if it is to record the frog pond again. Thank you for the people who made this party happen, it was excellent.

“It’s going to be a Goode, Goode, Roger good morning”…
